Who we are

Chrysalis Theatre Company is a New York City–based theatre organization devoted to developing bold new works that center women’s stories, ignite conversation, and reflect the rich, complex realities of women’s lives today. Since its founding by Adina Taubman, an award-winning actor, playwright, and producer, Chrysalis has created space for work that challenges, inspires, and transforms both artists and audiences alike.

Driven by a belief that theatre can be a catalyst for empathy and social change, the company champions original plays that explore urgent social issues and lived experiences through truth-telling, humor, and heart. Recent productions, like the devised ensemble piece She Takes Flight, exemplify Chrysalis’s commitment to authentic, femme-centered storytelling. Drawing from the personal stories of five women navigating midlife, the work reflects the company’s dedication to amplifying diverse voices and stories that resonate deeply within NYC’s vibrant artistic landscape.

Chrysalis invites emerging and established writers, performers, and collaborators to take creative risks, contribute their perspectives, and build a supportive theatrical community.
