Chrysalis Theatre Company is dedicated to the development of new plays about important social issues that entertain and spark a dialogue, which hopefully leads to action. We strive to create theater that is a transformative experience for our audiences.
Company Bios
Adina Taubman (Founder/Artistic Director) Most recently, Adina performed in Susan Polese's short play, GOOD NIGHT ANNABELLE for The Glass Ceiling Breakers 3 Festival in Garrison, NY. She has performed her critically acclaimed solo show, THE ROAD BACK, about her journey from depression to recovery, directed by Padraic Lillis, for the Psychiatry Residency Program at Rochester General Hospital, for the undergraduate Psychology departments at Nazareth University and St. John's University, and at The Reel Mind Festival (Rochester), following a three week run of the play at The Chain Theatre in New York City. Previous productions with Chrysalis: BEAUTY IN MY BROKENNESS, a staged reading of an original play devised from personal stories and interviews about mental health, The STOP GUN VIOLENCE NOW Theater Festival (in honor of the first anniversary of the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre and its 26 victims). In the festival, Adina performed her award-winning, solo docudrama, A LINE IN THE SAND, about the Columbine High School massacre, based on interviews with survivors. She has performed the play in more than 12 theater festivals, including the New York Fringe and the Edinburgh Fringe, (Best Production of a Solo Show Award at The Midtown International Theatre Festival and at Planet Connections) and at many high schools across the U.S. and in Tangier, Morocco. For Chrysalis’s inaugural production, Adina produced, BARKING GIRL, by Susan Bernfield, and played the role of Rae. Other Theater in New York: Ensemble Studio Theater, Manhattan Theatre Source, Looking Glass Theatre Company, Pulse Ensemble, and The Gallery Players. Adina received her MFA in Acting from the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco. She lives in Manhattan with her husband and two daughters.
Padraic Lillis (Director, The Road Back) is the Founding Artistic Director of The Farm Theater. He is a director, playwright, and educator. Padraic was The Humana Visiting Scholar and Artist in Residence at Centre College. As a director Padraic has been awarded: New York Innovative Theatre Outstanding Director, NY International Fringe Festival’s Overall Excellence in directing, and Best Short film at the Milan International Film Festival for his film Hand Over Hand which he wrote and directed. He has directed over twenty solo shows, including Adina Taubman’s A Line In The Sand, which was awarded best solo show at Planet Connections Theatre Festival, and Douglas Taurel’s The American Soldier, which played at The Kennedy Center. His plays are published with Dramatists Play Services. Padraic is the host of The Farm Theater’s Bullpen Sessions podcast. He is a member of the LAByrinth Theater Company and a lifelong Yankee fan.
Kimberly Dillon (Co-Producer, The Road Back) is a New York City-based actress, producer, and writer originally from Ohio. Recent Producing: Associate Producer “Between the Threads-Jewish Women Project” at HERE Arts Center, Co-Producer “Warriors of Education” short film documentary (Official selection, Block Island Film Festival/Best short doc, Indiedance) Recent Acting: Terry in the short film “Hair Trigger” (Best Supporting Actress, New Visions and Voices Festival).
